English service guide and inquiry
Define the UK destination before approving the product and shipment.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland do not share one universal customs and conformity route. ChinaConnect247 coordinates supplier evidence, specifications, quotations and shipping preparation while the buyer and appointed UK specialists confirm the applicable product and import responsibilities.
For importers, wholesalers, own-brand and online sellers sourcing from China. Specify England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, the product category and sales channel before treating supplier paperwork or a shipping quote as sufficient.

Three responsibilities to settle early
GOV.UK provides separate guidance for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Use the relevant sector rules rather than assuming every product needs UKCA or that CE covers everything.

Scope and practical next steps
01Use the right product rules for Great Britain or Northern Ireland
GOV.UK currently recognizes CE marking for many product sectors in Great Britain alongside UKCA routes, with category-specific rules and exceptions. Northern Ireland guidance covers CE or CE plus UKNI where required. Not every product needs a conformity mark.
- Identify every applicable product regulation before selecting assessment and documentation.
- Check exact model/variant coverage and the relationship between the test evidence and declaration.
- Confirm marking placement, importer identification, English instructions and required retention under the relevant rules.
02Treat private label as a responsibility question
GOV.UK explains that selling under your own brand, or modifying a product in a way that affects conformity, can mean taking on manufacturer responsibilities. Access to design/production information and technical evidence must be resolved before relying on a factory’s report.
- Document the brand owner, legal manufacturer, importer and production site.
- Agree material/component changes, supplier traceability and evidence access in the order terms.
- Plan product-specific tests, corrective action and record keeping with appropriate specialists; do not treat an inspection as certification.
03Build the shipment cost from current inputs
GOV.UK’s import process includes commodity code, customs value, permissions, declaration and records. A GB EORI is needed for GB imports; XI requirements depend on the Northern Ireland circumstances. Ask the customs agent to confirm the actual route.
- Compare named Incoterms/locations, quantity tiers, quote currency/validity and freight assumptions.
- Identify duty, import VAT, brokerage, insurance, handling, receiving and storage as quoted, estimated or unknown; recoverability needs tax advice.
- For Amazon or other fulfilment, separately confirm current seller/category, prep/label and receiving requirements.
What you receive
- A GB/NI-specific brief with supplier, model and responsibility evidence.
- A product/document gap register for the responsible importer and specialists.
- Comparable quotations and shipping/receiving assumptions within scope.
- A buyer-approved sample, inspection and shipment preparation plan where included.
What to prepare for your brief
- Exact model/materials, intended use/user, claims, brand and available technical documents.
- GB or Northern Ireland destination, sales channel and proposed importer/EORI arrangements.
- Supplier terms, quantity, packaging/carton data, budget and desired shipment date.
- Existing broker/product advisers and any private-label or modification requirements.
Quotation method and indicative fees
Use the existing review, compliance-coordination or production/logistics ranges only for the selected work. An itemized quotation sets the deliverables and outside charges. Product costs, tests, transport, duties, VAT, brokerage and storage are separate unless specifically included; this page is not a tax quotation.
- Pre-payment verification review
- US$250-US$1,000
- Testing and compliance coordination
- US$500-US$5,000
- Production and logistics coordination
- US$1,500-US$15,000
Indicative USD ranges from our Services & Pricing page. Your written quotation controls the fee, deliverables, payment arrangements and separate charges.
Timing and readiness
Product evidence and import arrangements should be resolved before production and freight commitments. Testing, corrections, supplier readiness and carrier/customs processes affect the schedule. We quote coordination milestones after reviewing the brief.

Questions about china to uk sourcing
Must every Chinese product carry UKCA?
No. Marking requirements depend on the product rules. CE remains recognized for many GB sectors, and other categories have different arrangements. Northern Ireland has separate guidance.
Can I rely on a supplier CE certificate?
Check the applicable route, exact product and supporting evidence. A certificate screenshot alone does not demonstrate that all manufacturer/importer obligations have been met.
Does own branding change my duties?
It can. GOV.UK describes manufacturer responsibilities for own-brand sellers and conformity-relevant modifications. Resolve the evidence and responsibilities before production.
Can you cover Northern Ireland?
Describe the actual movement and importer arrangements. We can scope coordination, with the appropriate broker and product specialists confirming NI-specific requirements rather than applying GB assumptions.
